Blue Mermaid Chowder House & Bar on Fisherman's Wharf
The Blue Mermaid Chowder House & Bar is where the ocean's lore and San Francisco's wharf history come together in a deliciously vibrant fashion. Housed in the historic Haslett Warehouse along with the Argonaut Hotel on Fisherman's Wharf, the Blue Mermaid is named after the exquisitely beautiful creature that is said to call the waters of San Francisco Bay her home. Whether our namesake is fact or fiction, one legend that is undeniable is our food, in particular our chowders.
Complementing this decadent lineup of chowders (six different types in all) are breakfast, lunch and dinner menus the entire family will enjoy. There's even a kids' menu geared specially to the little wayfarer's tastes. All of our dishes are prepared in an environmentally gentle way, including following the Monterey Bay's sustainable fisheries guidelines. Our "fresh, local and sustainable" practices are part of Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants' commitment to safeguarding the environment.
Behind the Blue Mermaid Bar
In the bar, you'll find some of the Blue Mermaid's finest creations. The Mary Mermaid (our nautical interpretation of a Bloody), the Sailor's Girl and the Dark and Stormy can definitely aid you in your quest to find a real mermaid. Our wines hail from California, Washington, New Zealand, Germany and Argentina, while our draft beers are local to northern California and our bottles spring from major and micro breweries throughout the U.S., as well as select imports. The handcrafted seasonal cocktails are made with produce straight from the San Francisco Bay Area's farms and gardens.
Happy Hour in San Francisco's Wharf
At the Blue Mermaid Bar, Monday through Friday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., you can come and enjoy our fabulous drink selections at our Happy Hour. Relax and
experience San Francisco with $3 appetizers, well drinks, wine by the glass, and draft and bottle beers. Our signature cocktails are only $5 and leave you with no excuse to not stop by after a long day at work or to start off a great night.

Therefore, we are more than happy to offer vegan and vegetarian dishes in addition to our daily menus. Our entire team is committed to making Blue Mermaid the best dining experience in San Francisco. For three years running, Blue Mermaid's chowder recipes have won top honors at the Schweppes Great Chowder Festival in Newport, Rhode Island. In fact, Blue Mermaid was the only restaurant on the West Coast to win in 2009. The first place trophy, in the Creative category for our succulent Dungeness Crab and Corn Chowder, earned Blue Mermaid a spot in the Chowder Hall of Fame.
