Blue Mermaid Chowder House & Bar on Fisherman's Wharf
The Blue Mermaid Chowder House & Bar is where the ocean's lore and San Francisco's wharf history come together in a deliciously vibrant fashion. Housed in the historic Haslett Warehouse along with the Argonaut Hotel on Fisherman's Wharf, the Blue Mermaid is named after the exquisitely beautiful creature that is said to call the waters of San Francisco Bay her home. Whether our namesake is fact or fiction, one legend that is undeniable is our food, in particular our chowders.
Complementing this decadent lineup of chowders (six different types in all) are breakfast, lunch and dinner menus the entire family will enjoy. There's even a kids' menu geared specially to the little wayfarer's tastes. All of our dishes are prepared in an environmentally gentle way, including following the Monterey Bay's sustainable fisheries guidelines. Our "fresh, local and sustainable" practices are part of Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants' commitment to safeguarding the environment.

December 9th- Kick off Crab Season in San Francisco at the Fisherman's Wharf Crab Festival. San Francisco is known for our crab, so come visit us at the festival. More information will be available soon!

National Fishing Week at the Blue Mermaid- We are kicking off our 2012 Summer Season celebrating National Fishing Week. The Blue Mermaid has partnered up with the Lovely Martha (http://www.lovelymartha.com/) and both the San Francisco Seafood Watch Alliance and Monterey Bay Aquarium's Seafood Watch with our "You Catch It, We'll Cook It" dinner on Friday, June 2, 2012 from 5:00PM-10:00PM. Bring any fresh fish (1 fish per table and under 20 pounds) you have caught and Chef Steven Connolly will cut and cook the fish for you to enjoy. We will also be offering a special 3 course menu the entire week for dinner with the most sustainable and freshest product with 10% of sales going to both the SF Seafood Watch and Monterey Bay Aquarium's Sustainable programs.
We will close the week on Friday, June 8th with an All You Can Eat Fish Fry. Our local Anchor Steam beer battered Pacific Cod is legendary around these parts and we are offering your choice of mixed green salad or one of our award winning chowders, garlic sourdough bread and all the fried fish you can eat for $30 from 5:00PM-10:00PM. Blue Mermaid's chowder recipes have won top honors at the Schweppes Great Chowder Festival in Newport, Rhode Island. In fact, Blue Mermaid was the only restaurant on the West Coast to win! The first place trophy, in the Creative category for our succulent Dungeness Crab and Corn Chowder, earned Blue Mermaid a spot in the Chowder Hall of Fame.
